Golden Smog are a loosely connected group of musicians (arguably a supergroup) comprised, at various times, of members of Soul Asylum, The Replacements, Wilco, The Jayhawks, Run Westy Run, The Honeydogsand Big Star. The group took their name from the name of a Flintstones character, which, in turn, was a parody of singer Mel Torm's nickname; the Velvet Fog. The group first came together in the Minneapolis area in 1989 as a country-rockreaction to the punkand hardcoremusic that dominated the Twin Cities' musical scene at the time; eventually Golden Smog became something of a fixture at local clubs, where they would play a handful of shows annually. Golden Smog's lineup has often changed, though Run Westy Runguitarist Kraig Johnsonas well as guitarists Dan Murphy( Soul Asylum) and Gary Louris( The Jayhawks) were relative constants. The definitive beginning of Golden Smog is hard to pinpoint given the mercurial nature of the band's lineup.

Walk Where He Walked Lyrics

Golden Smog

(tweedy)
Theres a man on tv claims he killed 23
Burnt their bodies and collected their teeth
Theres another man at home with his wife and family tree
Who agreed this would make a good movie?
And Im sitting here, wondering what this is all doing to me
He sold the book rights, and he was set for life
A woman on a talk show wants to be his wife
Another man decides to purchase his knife
A court decides hes got the right
And Im sitting here, wondering how he can ever sleep at night
I dont want to walk where he walked
I dont want to talk to who he stalked
I dont want to walk where he walked
First it was a book, and then it was a movie
They cut it all up and they put it on the tv
The starring role was played by christopher lee
He was fine, he was something to see
And Im sitting here, wondering what this is all doing to me
(chorus)
Oh lord, I didnt catch how he got caught
